Dr. Connie Sung is a professor and director of master’s in rehabilitation counseling program at Michigan State University. She is also a co-director of the MSU Center for Services, Training and Research for Independence and Desired Employment (STRIDE). Her research interests focus on investigating the role of biopsychosocial factors and community-based interventions in improving transition, career development, and psychosocial adjustment of individuals with disabilities. She has published over 80 research articles and book chapters. She is a five-time recipient of the American Rehabilitation Counseling Association (ARCA) research award and an associate editor of the Rehabilitation Counseling Bulletin. Using a holistic, strength-based approach, Dr. Sung and her team develop and validate community-based psychosocial and vocational interventions to improve employment and quality of life of individuals with disabilities through interdisciplinary, interagency, and international collaborations. Currently, Dr. Sung is the principal investigator of Project STEMM-Up, which is a multi-state, multi-agency collaborative effort to work with individuals with disabilities from marginalized/underserved communities to find or advance in career development in the areas of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or medicine.
