Sriram Narayanan
Engineering Degree from the Delhi College of Engineering (Now Delhi Technological University), and has an MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi. He also worked for Maruti Udyog Limited (Now Maruti Suzuki) in Purchasing and HCL Technologies Limited in Project Management and Business Development Roles prior to his career in Academia.
His work blends research and community outreach in equal measure. He has worked across different areas of the sustainability value chain including people (women worker inclusion, disability inclusion, and more broadly focused on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion), profit (SCM), and planet (new product development, emission reduction, and water conservation). He has published more than 50 manuscripts that include peer-reviewed journals, reports, and many in the top supply chain journals. He currently serves as a guest editor for a focused issue on DEI in the Production and Operations Management Journal – a Financial Times 50 publication. He has served as an invited keynote speaker at several national and international conferences, and has championed DEI across several corporate and academic forums. He serves on the Board of the Production and Operations Management Society as Vice President of Publications and has also served on the Board of the Decision Sciences Institute – both leading international academic groups within the SCM Discipline. He serves on several editorial boards of several elite SCM journals and has won several awards for his work including Best Associate Editor Award, and Distinguished Service Award. He is currently co-editing a special issue on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Production and Operations Management Journal – a Financial Times 50 Journal.
He has won several awards for his research, teaching, and service over the years including Jack Meredith Best Paper Award, the John D. and Dorotha, J. Withrow Endowed Emerging Scholar Award, the Lily Teaching Fellow, and Broad Integrative Fellow, among many others. Most recently he was recognized with the Michigan Rehabilitation Services Champion Award in 2021 by the office of Labor and Employment Opportunities for partnering with the State of Michigan organizations to further the employment of individuals with disabilities. His work on Gender Inclusion has been cited by more than 7000 popular press articles including in the early drafts of the Fair Pay Act passed in Britain.
He is the co-creator of the Abilities, Opportunities, and Future of Work podcast in partnership with the Michigan Rehabilitation Services (A division of the Labor and Employment Office) – which delves into challenges faced by firms in employing individuals with disabilities. His work has been funded by the Michigan State University, Strategic Partnership Grant and the NSF. He actively collaborates with several corporates and non-profits on sustainability-related research.

Sriram Narayanan is the Kesseler Family Endowed Faculty Fellow of Supply Chain Management at the Broad College of Business, Michigan State University (MSU) in the Supply Chain Management (SCM) Department. He is the Founding Academic Director of the Center for Ethical and Socially Responsible Leadership at the Broad College of Business.

Dr. Narayanan earned his PhD. in Operations, Technology, and Innovation Management at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Prior to PhD, got his undergraduate Mechanical
